Brevard Zoo - Melbourne, FL

The Brevard Zoo celebrated its grand opening in 1994 and serves as a key destination for tourists visiting Central Florida. In the summer of 2006, the Zoo approached SignAccess to design a new monument sign with electronic message centers to increase their visibility along the busy traffic corridor in which they are located in North Melbourne, FL. The Zoo wanted a much more conspicuous sign that served both as a practical communication tool for both potential and regular visitors, as well as an aesthetically-pleasing landmark that incorporates the Zoo's colorful and nature-inspired themes.

Since we replaced our old sign with the new sign designed and installed by Sign Access, we have seen an increase in attendance and surveys indicate the message board on the sign is a big asset. Sign Access walked us through how to use the sign, has always been available immediately to answer questions, and will even come for site visits to troubleshoot problems together. Whether on the phone or in person, both staff and technicians have been great to work with, and we would recommend them to any business.

Measuring 18 ft. tall, this double-sided fabricated aluminum structure features faux bamboo cladding carved from 2" thick HDU on a computer-assisted router. The colors and dimensional accents of the bamboo were painted using an airbrush, sealed under a clear matte enamel finish. The top section exhibits reverse channel aluminum panther logos with neon backlighting. The center sign panels consist of internal fluorescent illumination and half-inch thick acrylic copy pushed through routed openings and decorated with ivory vinyl overlays. Two Daktronics 3400 series LED Displays keep the community informed of the latest happenings and gatherings at the zoo.

SignAccess received an Honorable Mention in the 2007 Sign of the Times International Sign Contest for Brevard Zoo's new monument sign. This recognition is important as Sign of the Times serves as the sign industry's leading publication.
